Trail Travel Guide
Welcome to Trail!
Like many mountain towns in British Columbia, Trail was formed during the 1890's Gold Rush. Prospectors and settlers flocked to the area searching for mineral riches and found both gold and copper in abundance. This history has not been lost on Trail, as the Teck Cominco Interpretive Centre shows aspects of mining in-depth, with tours of the world's largest lead and zinc smelter also offered. Trail is also home to many world-class athletes, all who have proudly represented their home town on a variety of international stages. The Sports Hall of Fame pays tribute to this athletic heritage through displays of their accomplishments. After the history of Trail has been explored, visitors can take to the mountains and get recreational. Skiing, fishing, golfing, kayaking and biking are not only popular Kootenay activities but they are also easily accessible from the town.
